Just like many other sports, it only takes practicing the right technique to make significant improvements in softball. While you can always go to specialized trainers to give you more tips here are five that will help you improve your softball skills.
Tactically Grip Up
The moment you get ready to hit the ball will always be the most stressful of all. Many players mess this up by tightening their grip in a way that makes them lose their power and control. At this moment, it is better to use your dominant hand fingers to get a better hold on your less dominant hand and wait for the ball. Keep your wrist nicely loose for a perfect hit.
Never Hesitate Your Swing
Confidence is everything, even when the pitcher is trying to intimidate you. Having a positive stance will help you get through the noise and hit the ball the right way. Always keep what you’ve practised in mind.
Utilize Your Hips
Avoid using your arms to swing. Most of the time, when you swing your arms, you will end up in an awkward hitting position. Instead of your arms, use your hips to swing and get a firm posture. Always make sure that you retain your body power.
Never allow yourself to get distracted by the crowd or any other activity on or off the field. Keep your eyes on the ball at all times. This way, you will always read its momentum correctly.
Collect the Ball With Both Hands
While it does not always look flashy to collect the ball with two hands during pop-ups, grounders, and slow flies, if you can, always make sure that you do. This way, the ball will have minimal chances of dropping from your hands.
It takes a lot of time and practice to make one a great softball player; however, it is also the small tips that make a skilful player.
